Wander around Panagia Tourliani Monastery
Founded by monks in 1542, this monastery, painted in the customary whitewash, stands in the heart of Ano Mera village. It’s best known for its impressive bell tower, intricate wood-carved altar, and marble fountain in the courtyard. There’s a museum here, too, with collections of Byzantine icons and traditional ecclesiastical dresses.
