Holidays to Mykonos Town can be as lively or chilled as you like, with no shortage of world-class beaches, scenery, shopping and nightclubs.

Hotspot haven

Mykonos Town, the capital of Greece's party-famous Mykonos Island, is all about glamour, discotheques and a beach-bum lifestyle. Spend your mornings snapping your way through the picturesque town centre, and afternoons relaxing at a nearby beach. At night, you can head out to the hottest nightclubs this side of the Aegean Sea.

Surprising twists

A labyrinth of zigzagging, cobbled roads wraps the town in a perfectly jumbled bow, and getting lost in this warren's a fine way to pass the day. As you wander the lanes, you'll come across everything from swish boutiques to ancient chapels – Mykonos Town's got the lot.

Classic sights

No Mykonos list would be complete without mentioning the socialite-studded harbour, where eager holidaymakers arrive on ferries. Then there's Little Venice – a cluster of Venetian-style buildings and houses that call to mind its Italian namesake. Here, you can grab a glass of vino from one of the bars and relax while the sunset sinks into the Mediterranean Sea.

Best time to go to Mykonos Town

Blue skies and sunshine are a regular feature in Mykonos. The mercury hovers comfortably in the early 20s in spring and autumn – ideal for sightseeing – and rises to the high 20s and early 30s come July and August. The island’s Cyclades setting means that the meltemi winds stop the summertime temperatures feeling too hot, though.
