Gloria Palace Royal Hotel & Spa

Me and my husband came for his 60th and we were really looking forward . I emailed explaining it was his birthday and could we have a nice room . On arrival we were met by a very stern reception guy with ponytail ,but a lovely girl called Ann Marie was assisting. We were allocated our room in block 2 , not top floor like I asked , we go to the room and it wasent up to standard, it was very very dark with a poor view ! I went back to mr stern and after a while he found us a new room wich Ann Marie took me to see in block 4 top floor room was much better . The only problem was the horrible smell of drains in the corridor, and the toilet didn’t flush through the night ! Anyway pools and restaurant were lovely , staff were a bit stressed in my opinion as I think they were short staffed . The hotel need to have tea and coffee machines so guests can help themselves as asking for a second cup seemed a bother at breakfast . Always something nice to eat at dinner and breakfast . Stand out people for us were Louis Santana , a lovely gentle guy and Miguel Lopez what a lovely young man very courteous and caring ,nothing was a bother . The chill out pool is lovely and a days on the beach are a must , apart from mario the sun bed man who’s language was atrocious! Entertainment was ok , we tended to stay at hotel at night because there are no decent bars around wich was a deal breaker for me . All in all we had a fantastic time and looked after well , we were there when it was going into lockdown and I totally understand the worry that the staff must have had and it was very sad to see the beach close and place deserted as it’s so beautiful 😍 would I go again , probably not , only because no bars in walking distance , only Puerto Rico wich is like Blackpool

Went here on recommedation, everything fab from the welcome at reception, to the rooms, to the beautiful food. The staff were outstanding, too mention a few,Manuel (restaurant, always singing, always with a friendly smile) Brian & Estivar (who wecomed you into restaurant/sat you down), the waiters/waitresses/bar staff were all fanastic. We arrived as the sandstorm hit and the staff worked extremely hard the had the hotel was spotless within two days, which consider the amount of sand lying around was brill. Really comfy double beds on upper pool. Handy for the bus to Puerto rico or puetyo morgan. Our room in block two was spacious and large comfy bed, fridge, coffee machine, lovely shower/bath (love my tub). The beautiful food was buffet style, with themed nights, with plenty of choice and plenty of meat or fish, cooked fresh on the grill, loads of veg cooked/saute/presented in various ways, yum yum. Would highly recommend this hotel, we are already looking at next feb & my brother is back in oct for his 3rd time in this hotel (he is fussy). The only thing Ann & I were not fussed on was the entertainment, but thats our personnel choice. Ann & I would give this hotel 10/10. Cheers and well done to all the staff at tha Gloria Place

There is much to say that is positive about a stay in this hotel although there are some negative points in our view. The positives - 1. Staff excellent with great service 2. The whole place is extremely clean 3. The infinity pool is lovely and beautifully clean with a nice temperature 4. The spa area is lovely (although not used much if the weather is good) 5. Food is of good quality 6. Ample free parking if you have/hire a car 7. 2 complimentary bottles of water offered daily in room 8. Kitchenette area in room with microwave and sink The negatives 1.. Choice of desserts not very good and whole fruit not good 2. The beds are covered in a great big piece of plastic with a loose sheet over it - as a result the sheet moved and the bed felt a bit uncomfortable. 3. The spa is only open from 10am to 7 pm 4. The bathroom is a bit dated 5. The toiletries offered are poor with only shower gel in the shower and shower cap, earbuds (if used) not replenished and no toiletries offered for basin and bath 6. No kettle (but you can have one if you request it) 7. It was a shame that it was necessary to charge to use the safe in the room which required a second card key to operate it Overall, it was a nice stay but the negatives outlined were irritating but would not stop us staying again. Just a note about the rooms - they are in 4 blocks, with block 1 being furthest away from reception and the restaurant. So, if, for example, you're allocated room 2401 then you're in block 2, 4th floor, room 1. All rooms face the sea but some have better views and not all have sun on the large balcony Some people have mentioned about the deposit on the towels - this is returned if you have the piece of paper given at reception and you can have as many pool towel changes as you like
