Hotel cancelled booking to resell at higher rate

Cancelled my booking - no response from hotel and room readvertised at a higher rate.
We booked more than a month in advance to secure a good price, around £111. 3 weeks before we are due to go I get a message to say the booking is cancelled. No explanation. Is the hotel closed for refurbishment perhaps? No the dates are still being advertised but now the nearest alternative is £182.

Two of my friends and myself stayed here last week for what should have been a two night stay, the room was fantastic, very central to everything we needed. The cleanliness was second to none. The hotel staff were very attentive, friendly and welcoming. We checked out after our stay. Unfortunately our flight home that night was cancelled due to the French air traffic control strike.

Lovely clean hotel & staff were happy & friendly. The breakfast selection was fantastic there was ample choice including drinks. All the common areas were very clean & the hotel is well maintained. The hotel is a 15 minute walk to the main square & a taxi to the airport was 35.

Bad choice for Barcelona

Service was decent. My room was pretty horrible- I dont know whether others are better but my room (at the back of the hotel - small box room with mini window) smelled badly of cleaning products to the extent I thought they were covering something up. On one night there was lots of banging upstairs.
Would never stay again.
If other rooms are better thats great but then this one should be sold at a significant dis...

The hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean. The choice at breakfast was impressive. The hotel is situated a short walk from the northern end of La Rambla and the Gothic quarter. Our rooms overlooked the Rambla del Ravel, a busy square in an area that is becoming gentrified....
