I usually stay at places like Paxton or The Social Hub when in this area, but decided to try Ilunion Barcelona this time because the price was slightly lower. I regret that decision.
Before arrival, I emailed the hotel requesting a room on a higher floor. I never received a reply. At check-in, the receptionist was unfriendly, asked for my passport without any greeting, and when I repeated my request for a high floor...

We booked this hotel because we wanted a pool & be close to the beach.
We booked a room with no balcony. In general it appeared that hotels in area did not have balconies.
Checking in was easy & helpful.

This is probably the fifth or sixth time I stayed here and Ive seen a real drop in standards of service. This time I was really disappointed. The room cleaning was minimal at best (lots of waste bottles etc left for a few days, beds not made properly), breakfast was poorly stocked but worst of all was the front of house. HUGE DOWNSIDE. It is forbidden to take anything from breakfast with you not even a banana. I made that mistake and was screamed upon from across the room like a thief. It felt extremely embarrassing. Otherwise everything was perfect....
