Elba Sara Hotel & Golf Resort

This was an impulse vacation to get away from the dark dismal weather in Scotland. The weather in Fuerteventura was a bit variable but warm and pleasant nonetheless. The hotel was great. We had a room with a balcony and seaview. The bed was very comfortable. We found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Mealtimes offered a great choice of both hot and cold fare and the quality was very good. There was evening entertainment in the bar each night. If I was coming back to Fuerteventura I would definitely come back to Elba Sara. Oh and the pool facilities were good too!

Oh wow, where do you start! From the lovely welcome on arrival everyone is genuinely happy you are there - nothing too much trouble. The room was huge with a great view, really well presented and equipped for our week. Loads of drawer and wardrobe space and the addition of tea/coffee making facilities and mini-fridge was extremely welcome. Rooms were refreshed daily to a high standard. The bathroom was light and airy, good powerful shower with lots of hot water....and fluffy towels. The restaurant was fantastic, always lots of tables, not tightly packed together, very clean and staff constantly clearing used plates etc. The food was amazing! Something for everyone - I didn’t have chips at all during our stay - so much to choose from! Each night is a different theme counter, sushi, cheeses, the best one was seafood and shellfish (oh wow it was amazing, including oysters, mussels, langoustines, whole crab, king prawns, smoked salmon.....absolutely divine!) The salad bar was unbelievably good, so much choice of the healthy stuff and little platters of foods to add e.g. fruit, cured meats, olives, fish etc. The grill has two varieties of meats everyday pork/steak/chicken/turkey as well as two varieties of fish and grilled vegetables. The vegetarian selection was always very tempting and not just one dish! There was a pasta station, fresh pizza, varieties of meats or vegetables in sauce (the beef casserole was very good). Then you have potatoes, rice, vegetables - there’s something for even the pickiest of diners! Breakfast was legendary - huge selection of cereals, juice, freshly made smoothies (delicious), eggs boiled/fried/scrambled and omelettes. Even fresh pancakes if you wanted them. Then there’s the usual English breakfast staples of bacon, sausage, tomatoes, beans, mushrooms and hash browns with the addition of ‘potato omelette’ - this was delicious so packed with flavour. If you didn’t fancy a cooked breakfast there was a great selection of fresh fruit, cheese, hams and pastries. You were really set up to face the day. The pool area was lovely and clean, although the weather was unusually cool while we were there we still had a couple of days around the pool. The animation team were great, if you didn’t want to take part in activities they still interacted with you. Victor’s sense of humour is brilliant! The addition of a free bus into town was genius! We spent many a good day wandering around the harbour and in and out of shops. The only thing I’d say is the bars and restaurants around the harbour are overpriced as they seem solely owned by the Barcelo group - everything is around 60% less elsewhere (why pay €4 for a beer when you can pay €1.50 in town?) Anyway after a lovely lunch and fabulous sangria for less than €15 for two of us we had a slow walk back along the beach path to the hotel, it doesn’t take long and it helps walk off the calories! At night the bar area is good, not quiet but not noisy either. The entertainment was good if you wanted it. All the staff interact with guests which is lovely. All-in-all it has been one of the best winter breaks we’ve had, we’d definitely be booking again for next year. Daniel and his team have got it just right, big thanks to all the staff.
