    This place has won awards for its slick design. Its major players are the glass-fronted à la carte restaurant, the rooftop infinity pool and the ultra-modern rooms.

    The Vine gets its name from Madeira’s long history of winemaking. You won’t be surprised to hear it’s got a wine bar up on the roof, and a reception area coloured with deep reds and yellow-gold tones. There’s even a red wine bath on offer in the spa.

    A stay here will have you straddling the old and new parts of town. There’s a modern shopping complex right under the hotel, plus a busy marina just around the corner. And, for a peek at Funchal’s more traditional bits, a five-minute walk gets you to the old town’s cobbled streets.

    We have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions over the last few years. Our most recent stay was excellent considering the Covid times we find ourselves in! The hotel took so many extra safety measures that we felt completely safe. Of course some of the changes meant that some aspects of our stay were not as pleasurable as they were during previous visits but we are living in difficult times and safety is paramount! The staff really impressed us - they have always been good here but with all the extra measures they have had to endure, including mask wearing for long periods of time in the heat, we would have forgiven them if they were a little less fabulous but they were better than ever! Well done The Vine - we will be back very soon!

    Everything about this hotel is perfect : the location, the staff, the food, the room. The location : There is a mall in the same building. So if you want to go buy water, wine, anything else it's super convenient. Also everything else can be walked to. It's very central. The staff is really helpful. They want to you to enjoy your stay. The breakfast : Amazing! I still miss the passion fruits. The quality is there and the breakfast begins at 7:30. The room : the mattress is really comfortable. The room is also very spacious. It has toiletries, sleepers, dressing gown, mini bar (and everything that is there is free), safe, turn down service and a lot of towels. You really can't go wrong with this hotel.

    Hotel is in good location near a shopping centre Went to the bar for drinks which overlooks the city and has a pool. We did not stay there but were made to feel welcome Service friendly and quick and drinks not too expensive

    Just got back from a week here and it was a amazing place nothing was too much trouble for the staff rooms are amazing brilliant location can’t say a bad word about it food was nice only had bed and breakfast but all lovely
    Voyage prive description v Hotel reality

    Firstly let me say that the staff at the Vine are more than 5*, the facilities are probably when open also 5* However Covid 19 has changed matters, which one has to accept. But Voyage Prive still advertise that it’s 5* A la Carte dining, when in reality you are offered 3 choices from a set menu for dinner. Breakfast is a “served” buffet which is limited and not 5*. The gym and Spa are both closed. There is building work right next door. Be aware Voyage Prive answer to complaints is that you should ring the Hotel 2 days before arrival to check what’s available. If you do so, will they let you cancel? And offer a refund, don’t think so. So my advice is this is a nice hotel, with great staff, but it is not in the presence times able to offer 5* facilities etc, so don’t pay Voyage Prive’ 5 * prices unless of course you wish be your own agent and ring the Hotel yourself to find out which facilities are available.
