Great location opposite the Plaza Espana. Easy walking around the city centre. The hotel is huge and has a very popular rooftop bar. I found the staff (in particular the doormen) quite rude. If you try to exit through the main door to the hotel, they tell you to use the side doors in a very abrupt manner, also they question you on entry to the hotel, requiring some form of evidence that you are staying there. We had a wonderful family stay at Hotel Riu Plaza España. The hotel is modern, very clean, and perfectly located for exploring Madrid on foot. From the moment we arrived, the staff provided excellent service and were always friendly, professional, and willing to help.
