    WORST HOTEL CUSTOMER SERVICE BY FAR!

    Just arrived at the Sol Barbados with my family, (children aged 2 and 4) I initially booked the sol Barbados but was then sent an email to advise that I would be staying at melia calvia beach. On arrival at melia calvia beach I was told i wouldn’t be staying there and I had been rebooked back into the sol Barbados. No apology whatsoever after a long day travelling just basically dismissed us! So we then dragged all of our suitcases around to the Sol Barbados where we were met by the sol Barbados check in staff. The most abrupt guy I had ever met, it felt like he was being forced to have us staying there. Absolutely zero information, and no advice on any COVID 19 guidelines, shocking!! He just said spoke a few words one of which was passports and the other was sign here, I then asked him what I was signing for and again I was met with hostility. The response was this is what hotels do, you sign for things, I could have been signing for anything as it was all in Spanish! We then got to our room which was tattty to start the least, worn furnishings and definatly not hoovered! Worst start to a holiday ever, hopefully it will pick up but I very much doubt it. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL OR ANY MELIA CHAIN HOTELS, ABSOLUTLY TERRIBLE!!
    PERFECT FOR A FAMILY WITH MIXED AGES

    Been meaning to write this review since our visit last summer. we booked as a family of 5 x2 teenage girls 2 adults and a 7 year old. They automatically put us in 2 sep rooms connecting to each other. A lovely welcome pack for the 7 YO on the sofa roll out bed. Food is always availible Kids restuarnt and an adults. Beer wines cocktails on tap from breakfast right through till 1am slushies icecreams for the kids Then doghnuts and snacks after lunch The kids club was amazing!! Felt scared to leave my 7 YO But she loved it! gives you a good couple hours to relax 3 times a day. they do water activities cooking and much more. the older girls loved sun bathing water areobics and all other activities put on in the day. Evening entertainment was great right by the pool. Cocktails on tap as much spirits in as you like, No scrimimng here on the shots. close to maga strip night life but not too close. beach 2 min walk and beautiful. lots of shop returants etc Rooms very modern with good storage.Not to big but who wants to stay in the room all day in this beutiful resort. Thansk to the staff Specially the kids club staff they trie so hard with the kids allways trying to include them in dancing and to the club very friendly.

    I have tried booking this hotel through 4 seperate companies, and have been knocked back by them all, I tried booking 2 x Sol rooms for my family which consisted of me and my partner and our youngest daughter who is 15, then a second room for my older daughters and there children who are 7 and 12, I was told that I would need an extra room as as my 15 daughter and 12 grandson are classed as adults. So I then went for upgrade extra rooms, and was told the room with my daughters and grandson and grandaughter, could not be booked, as if he was 11 it would be okay, yet as he is 12 he is classed as an adult, how many 12 years olds do you know who are adults, I think this is blatant age discrimination, and appaling that they would split up a family, so please beware if you have 12 + aged children you need another room and this also means doubling the price.

    Probably not completely the hotels fault as we arrived on 22/10/2019 and the hotel was in shut down for end of season Something we were not told by tui but are now about to seek advice on the matter from abta as advised from our local tui store Only one pool open at time Bar staff rude asking us to collect our own glasses even though our children had already returned them Food the worst we have ever had Drink as well. No cocktails etc as they were no reordering stock Ended up at local bar every morning and night despite being all inclusive Rep left the day we arrived Entertainment non existent Rooms doors rotten at bottoms Holes in walls Definitely not four star or three star Never again

    I have actually never written a bad review before however want to make people aware that if not in the height of the summer this is definatly NOT the place to go! We went for a family holiday, myself, partner and daugter. The reason we booked this hotel was because of the main picture advertised of the waterpark for children and babies, however when we got there it had been closed as OUT OF SEASON!!!! Funny though how we were charged high season tourist tax???? The food was absolutly awful, raw pizza bases, scrambled egg was like soup, fizzy drinks has a very odd taste to them. We were AI and ended up eating out pretty much every meal. Our daughter became ILL and was taken taken to hospital. Rooms were ok bed were terribly hard. The good points were that staff were friendly enough and the hotel was clean, good location for beach and town. This is definatly not a 4 star, maybe a 3 star.
