Hotel Son Matias Beach

Two days into our holiday at Son Matias we were put in lockdown. No going outside the hotel, swimming pool area closed, no entertainment etc etc. What a shame. This is a lovely hotel. The staff were great, the hotel is spotless, the food is excellent and the location is special. I would definitely return here without hesitation. I must mention the TUI rep Diana who was brilliant under difficult circumstances. One criticism is the price of drinks. They were very expensive compared to other holidays to other holidays.

Arrived on 10th March, hotel was nice but we didn't arrive until 8 ish and had a quick shower and therefore late for dinner and wasn't impressed as food was mostly dried up. However, this obviously was much improved the following day and food was fine for the rest of the week. So would recommend you go for dinner no later than 8 ish. Rooms are nice with plenty of coathangers and storage. You get kettle, tea, coffee milk etc but not replenished so would recommend you take your preferred tea bags with you. Toiletries were good quality shampoo, shower gel provided. Excellent shower. Entertainment was quite good but would agree with other reviews thought the drinks were slightly over priced, expecially wine considering the Spa across the road had excellent wine for just over 2 euros. We were paying 22 euoros for bottle at night which wasn't as nice. Expect to pay in restaurant obviously but we have generally paid approx 14 euros for wine at other hotels. We visited Soller on the vintage train which was lovely. Cost 30 euros to make your own way and was very easy just get a bus to bus station in Palma and the station is a short distance from bus station. Had lovely weather until Sunday but as we were confined to our rooms for the rest of the holiday didn't really matter. The hotel staff were lovely and Nick, entertainment guy was very professional and re-assuring throughout. Tui rep did a very good job at keeping guests informed and keeping her cool despite one particular guest who seemed to take it out on her because the cathedral was shut. Will certainly return and would like to thank all staff for making our holiday enjoyable. See you next year!

Well what can you say,my better half and myself visited our favourite hotel for ruby wedding,brilliant upgrade to junior suite,107,this balcony opening onto a lovely new solarium over looking the sea.Recent refurbishment to the pool area has been done to a very high standard and a big improvement over last year.Food as usual very good ,then the coronavirus reared its head.The hotel was powerless to do anything normal,the pool area,games,entertainment and restrictions to basic movements such as walking around the resort.All outside bars closed with the police clearing the beach and promenade,but I can not praise the hotel management and all the staff for there dedication to the guests.The professional attitudes from everyone was outstanding they really did make the best of a bad job,still a smile and a laugh.We flew out with jet2 and were told we were to return to the UK early,all check outs were done with a lack of fuss and the staff were really sort of apologising,not that they could do anything more .
