Colon II Apartments

My sister and I regularly have a holiday in November this year I treated her to Playa de las Américas I had read some pretty bad reviews about this hotel but in our opinion they were totally unfounded. We had a two bedroom apartment it was so clean and tidy we had no complaints,the cleaners cleaned the room everyday including the balcony. We had a fantastic sea view overlooking the street which could be noisy until early hours but was no problem to us, everything is so easy to get too the beach just yards away, supermarkets, bars, clubs and shopping centres are second to none. The negatives were that it is very difficult to get a place in the sun near the pool because of early morning bed grabbers who placed towels on the spots they wanted and cleared off for hours leaving only places in the shade for others, we had to spend money everyday for a bed on the beach, the street sellers are very annoying and won't take no for an answer sometimes causing a scene we found that very intimidating, This is not a family oriented hotel but perfect for couples or sisters having a week in the sun before Xmas. We would highly recommend this hotel the staff are so helpful from the reception to cleaning staff and the Tui rep Elinor they made the holiday so enjoyable

The main thing is that I feel that I paid too much for an adequate apartment hotel, which doesn’t have free wifi in rooms, gym, heated pool or spa or include breakfast. If you want to use the tv or safety deposit box, you have to pay extra. Not even hand soap is included in the rooms. So bring your own soap, bath gel, shampoo and towel for the pool area.

Popped here for a bite to eat on our way past, looked clean and stylish. Not overly impressed, service was rude and slow. Only had a small dish of bruschetta and fries. Different style of bruschetta to anything I’ve seen before - was a slice of bread just toasted on the edges with some tomatoes chucked on and loaded with cheese. Flavourless.
