Hotel Albatros Plava Laguna

First of all I would like to say that we booked this only a couple of months before we went, we had a free child place for this holiday and didn’t pay a huge amount, so our expectations weren’t that high, however I expected more from a supposedly 4 star hotel. This was more like a 3 star hotel. I say this because the room was very small and the food reminded me of school dinners (not varied, sloppy mash and quite salty) nowhere near the same standard as other 4 star hotels that we have stopped at. Other things I would expect from a 4 star that were missing: Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. No iron or ironing board in the room, you have to pay for the hotel to do it. Everything in the mini bar was chargeable. All drinks were served in glass around the pool. Whilst I like that it is environmentally friendly, it’s not so friendly when broken (this happened often) with children running around without shoes on. We went all inclusive and when my husband asked for a gin and tonic, he was told that he had to pay for the tonic water. The evening entertainment was very lack lustre. This is subjective though and others may enjoy an Elton John impersonator singing in German! Another thing to note about the entertainment is that in the warm weather it is held outside. This is fine if the hotel grounds are big, but this isn’t and so anyone with a sea view room has to listen to the entertainment. It finishes at 11.30 and so some children may be kept awake by it. Positives about the hotel were that it was located in a great place and it was very clean. Some of the reception employees were very friendly and helpful, others not so friendly. The employees in the children’s club were fantastic. The town of Porec and the surrounding areas of the hotel were beautiful and the people very friendly. There is plenty to do within the area, great walking, cycle routes and boat trips. Overall we had a nice time and would go back to the area, but not the hotel.

We visited the hotel to attend the Dancestar competition. For holiday season we were a little early as it was still a little cold but nothing serious. A better time will be mid June onwards. The hotel is ok. Oldish but ok. The carpets are shot and need to be replaced. Otherwise, it is clean. The toilets at the restaurant have a stench so bad you cannot use them. Food offered is the same for each sitting so staying for 7 nights can get monotonous. Liquor on the all inclusive package is limited to the point that if you are not from Eastern Europe, you will not use it. House beer and wine are fine. All and all, ok.

We pay on travel agency better and large room ( no economic). We receive a small room, very very very small economic room. On the reception women doesnt give us another normal room, which we paid! We have stress, we see that rooms are free but nothing. Room was dirty, toilet brutal dirty ( we have picture)... For 4* no way! Sea is not so close. It takes around 5 min of normal, turistic walk or 2 min of run. Hotel doesnt have privat beach, no sunbeths, no chairs, nothing. Pools are ok. Food was good, but nothing special. Not for 4*, it cant compare with some 4* what we allready see. No way! Sweets,cake just normal, nothing special, average! Drinks are sweet, you can see they are very cheap! No real cola! We have been there 2 times! And always the same issue with rooms! Overall is hotel good, but my score/points are for 4* hotel with that price. If they have 3* and 20% lower price they receive better points. We dont go there anymore. You cam find a better 4* hotel with lower price and with better food, rooms...and also on the beach!
