Valamar Riviera Hotel & Residence

Really enjoyed a week in the residence. Travelled over to island each day, good that you could charge to your room from the island so could leave cards etc in the safe. Food was ok, breakfast I found more choice than evenings meal but very serviceable. Room was quiet and we were well looked after. I found not enough seating in the outside bar area. Would stay again as short and seamless trip in private transfer from Airport. Short flight time from Gatwick.

We had a week’s stay in the adults-only Valamar Riviera in mid-September. Glorious weather all week! The hotel itself is very clean and comfortable. As we had booked through TUI, we were on half-board, which, in some respects, was a little disappointing, as we did not get to sample the superb local restaurants for evening meals. The reason for this is that the food at the Valamar itself was so good, I doubt whether we could have found dinner that much better locally. Breakfast was equally good, with so much choice and freshly cooked eggs if required. The hotel also provides free access, via a regular five-minute boat trip across the harbour to its sister hotel on Isabella Island. Here, you can use all the facilities of this hotel, including a reasonably-sized pool and food and drinks on the terrace. Old Porec is very interesting, and being based at the Valamar Riviera afforded easy access to all its attractions.

This hotel was in an excellent location in Porec, overlooking the harbour. We stayed in one of the blocks next to the original & so you walked out of the main reception & few metres to the other entrance. This was no problem, as so close & you went back to the main block for the reception, restaurant & bar. This block however did not have a lift, so could be a problem for some. The reception staff were very friendly & welcoming. Our room was very spacious, modern & clean & the bed was comfy. Plenty of storage/wardrobe space. Hairdryer, air-con, mini-bar & mini toiletries inc. Towels could be changed daily if required. The breakfast was very nice & a good choice. Lovely lady who made omelettes & fried eggs! The staff were all friendly. The hotel's sister hotel is on the island, which is a 2-3 minute free taxi boat away from the harbour and here you can use the pool and the beaches. You are supplied with beach towels and the sun-beds were free. The taxi-boat goes regularly (every 15-30 mins) all day & evening. Porec itself is a lovely quiet old town to walk around. There is no traffic in the old part. There are plenty of restaurants around and reasonable too. Rovinj is about 45 mins away by bus (approx £6 each return) and is well worth a visit too. We visited when a lot is quietening down for the season (30.9-2.10.19). I would recommend this hotel.
