Mar Hotels Playa Mar & Spa

Stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks and it was great friendly staff and very helpful. animation team were fantastic the energy of those people was wearing me out just watching them. All the little ones were well looked after by the animation team during the day and the children disco in the evening was well worth the watch even though we did not have any little ones with us. Food was ok I was slightly disappointed as I have allergies so had salad most of the time and did not find out till last day that I could have asked the chef for certain meals but for the people who can eat what ever they want no problem the waiters were friendly and the bar staff were great. I noticed a few comments on this site about the pool being very cold but once you are in and swimming it is fine admittedly the sea was like a warm bath so did spend a few days on the beach which is nice and the slow walk in to town was not a problem Now for a little moan the room was great but the shower was really not thought about when putting it in because the floor is some kind of wood and just a small gap for the water to flow away which it doesn't do because there is no slope so the water can run that way and as you open the door it comes out all over the floor and we had to keep mopping it up which was a bit of a drag and small things like a towel rail would be nice we did comment to reception and suddenly there was a towel rail in the bathroom so yes they do listen and react to your comments all in all we had a fantastic time all the people were also friendly young and older people so thankyou you all for making our holiday a great one

We stayed here at the end of September / start of October as a family of 4 for 2 weeks. We had a nice time, but that was probably despite and not because of our stay at Playa Mar & Spa. For the price we paid we expected 4*** treatment, but we felt let down too many times to rate it as such. First some good things: Port de Pollensa is just lovely and the location of the hotel is great, at the end of the pine walk, a few minutes walk from several small beaches where there's nothing but softly leaping waves on the clean sand. Perfect for little ones to play and seem in the sea. A bus stop 5 minutes walk away connects you easily with Alcudia / Palma (not check the time table as busses don't run frequently) The big buss station is a 30 minute walk away. Kids and main swimming pool are well maintained and many slides to keep children entertained. Spa facilities are good; clean pool and steam room plus sauna. If you don't have your own swimming cap you can buy one for 1 euro. It is such a shame that two areas really let the place down: 1 the food - my husband and I both got food poisoning on day 3 of our holiday, for which the hotel took no responsibility. The following days the soup, tea and other dishes were often cold or lukewarm and we each suffered at least another 3 times from upset stomachs during our stay. Unfortunately food from the snack bar was not any better and we were really reluctant to eat anything there. The cooks seemed pretty non-engaged, however the restaurant staff was lovely, to us adults and our children. Especially the 'magic lady' deserves a special mention! 2 the kids club - again we'd expected to find more than a few colouring in books and an member of the entertainment team with a silly hat on. Our daughter went once, but didn't go back. What really struck us was the fact that at the start of the first week of October there was no seating outside, limited entertainment and a very trimmed down mini disco for the children. Despite the fact that there were a lot of children still there and weather was lovely. It is a self fulfilling prophecy of no / non- involved guests as soon as 'the season is over'... In short, we will come back to this part of Majorca, but sadly not to this hotel. We really feel that it has so much potential, it's just a shame that it didn't give us the carefree holiday we longed for. We
