GF Noelia

Puerto de la Cruz is a busy town which easily mixes Spanish life and holidaymakers, avoiding the tackyness of some southern resorts. If you want to avoid hills get a hotel close to the sea, like the Noelia. As well documented in other reviews, this is a great wee hotel with friendly staff, mostly decent buffet food, good amenities and all very clean. Two black marks though. The lovely rooftop pool was glacial and unusable. Aapparently this gets better in summer, though it was a regular 27 degrees during our stay and the water stayed freezing. And the second is the room outlook. On the sunny side there is an open outlook on the adjacent hotel, it's pool and trees and the surrounding hills and sea. We were on the dark side of the moon with an often very noisy sports hall beside us. It was nice and shady though and offered views of a domed roof and flats! A move was not possible. This did not spoil our enjoyment as there is so much to see and do around... but I know which way our room will face if we come back here!

Close to Playa Jardin (5min walk), Loro Parque (10min walk), very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are basic, clean and comfortable, nice pool on roof. Buffet breakfast is good but the evening buffet a bit dull for our taste. Nice bar and restaurant with good shops nearby. We would stay here again.

What had all the makings of one of the worst holidays turned out to be one of the best. First the worst. Tui flight there and back was even more cramped than Ryanair. Kept waiting 90 minutes for transfer bus to hotel - maximum wait should have been an hour - and return bus delivered us to airport with three and a half hours to spare. Arrived at hotel to discover they had no record of our request for high floor and put us in room on the 2nd floor facing the brick wall of neighbouring sports centre. Beware of all north facing rooms below fourth floor. We were not the only ones to complain about this. Allocated a room on the fifth floor the following day. From then on everything was fine, Not impressed with Broadway Travel on this one., When we phoned to complain about the room, all we got was a lot of sorries, nothing we can do. Jamie, who had dealt with our request for a high floor had conveniently left the company.
