Good hotel but "forced" to tip the staff

This was my third time visiting Rome and as much as I would like to rate it 5 stars, 1 star has to be deducted for an outrageous tipping charge.
The good: The location is very convenient to Termini station for catching the Leonardo Express or trains to other parts of Italy. You have to be alert and aware of your surroundings when walking 5 minutes to/from the train at night or early morning. We walked to the Trevi ...

Great location, clean rooms. Reception staff cold and not engaging. Restaurant staff friendly although we didn't eat there due to let down and disinterest of the roof top bar employee. We went to have further drinks and dinner elsewhere....

Overall this is a good hotel. It is very close to the train station and the neighborhood has many restaurants and felt safe at night. We didn't get the breakfast but there is a cheap place a block away that had great food and coffee at a good price. The check in was quick and efficient. The room is clean and nice. Not the biggest but it was nice. We had room to walk around and it came with a fridge but it was ...

Erratic housekeeping and and some indifferent front desk staff

We stayed for 7 nights at this hotel. It was both a personal and work trip.
The housekeeping services were erratic - supplies were not getting replenished. We had to come back every night and ask for things - a bath towel one night, tea bags, creamer, toilet paper.
A few front desk staff were helpful - Francesca and Daniel. The rest were not very responsive.
On the last day the egg bar closed a few minutes early ...

We had a great stay, the only thing missing was the closing button from the elevator panel. The room was comfortable and cleaned daily, there were 4 type of pillows we could choose from. The bathroom was quite modern, the only problem I had was with the water hardness. The breakfast was excellent, there was a big variety of food we could choose from and everything was delicious.
