Roma Beach Resort & Spa

Arrival We arrived at the hotel at around midnight for our 2 week stay in Roma Beach Resort. Check in was smooth and we was advised that the Bistro Bar was open for food until 6am where they have a selection of food and non alcoholic drinks available (alcoholic drinks are extra after midnight). The Room We arrived to our room where we had been given a family room with 5 beds on the ground floor... we were travelling as a couple so thought this was odd. The next day our room key was cut off where we had to go to reception and was told they had put us in the wrong room and we had to move. This was very inconvenient considering we had already unpacked our suitcases but agreed to move the next day. We were moved to the top floor with a balcony overlooking the mountains which was nice. The room was spacious and clean and the mini fridge was restocked daily with water, sparkling water, fanta, cola and juice. During our stay we left 5 euro on the side which the maid took - definitely lock your money away in the safe. The Restaurants The buffet restaurant at the hotel has a wide selection of food, however as a fussy eater I found this very repetitive. They seemed to have 3/4 chicken dishes which were rotated between so you were often eating the same chicken dish every other day. The Bistro Bar is open from 10pm until 6am and offers a selection of hot and cold food. We also went to the Italian A La Carte which was very disappointing. Note that you can only go to one A La Carte during your stay and only one of them is on per night so book in at the beginning of the week to ensure you get the one you want. The Pool and Beach The Pool is big but sun loungers are definitely a problem at this resort. There are not enough loungers and they are extremely cramped. There is a lot of seating area which could be removed during the day and replaced with extra sun loungers to give guests more space and options. We did not have an issue getting a sun bed, however. Most mornings we got to the pool area at around 11am and there was always somewhere to lay. We only visited the Beach once during our stay (personal preference) - the beach was large with lots of sun loungers and also a beach bar which served lunch. The Hotel The hotel is very clean and well maintained, however it is mostly catering for German guests. There is a language barrier between the English and a lot of the staff but most staff know enough for you to get by during your stay. The staff are all friendly, the spa staff and hotel photographer are both quite pushy and will come round the pool daily to try and get you to visit the spa / have a photoshoot. Entertainment at this hotel is very low-key. During the day there is minimal going on which I quite liked but if you want to visit somewhere with lots activities during the day then this is not the place for you. Evening entertainment was okay - some shows were good some were awful so don't expect 5* entertainment at this resort. TIPS: - Take Euro's with you to this resort and area. Everything is priced in Euro. - The hotel offers a private bus to Side, Manavgat and Gundogdu. This costs around 2 Euro per person each way and is much cheaper than getting a taxi. (A taxi to Side will cost you around 17 Euro each way) - The Taxi services work at 1 euro per km - if you are planning on taking a taxi then this should give you an idea if you know the distance you are travelling.

We found the accommodation roomy with fab air con which was much needed as during our stay reached 34 degrees. As a vegan myself the variety of food was amazing, my husband as a meat eater enjoyed the griddle meat served near pool area fantastic so both well catered for. Staff were super efficient although bit of a language barrier. Only criticism is on outskirts and a 20 minute taxi ride there and back (1 euro per mile so expensive if you like to go out a few nights during your stsy) to old town of Side where all nightlife, harbour and shops/restaurant were situated so being in hotel nowhere to stroll to in the evening although entertainment in hotel ok.

Just returned from a wonderful two week holiday with family and can seriously say this has been one of the best holidays we have been on. Forget about all the bad negative reviews about the Roma Beach this is a true reflection of this wonderful hotel. We arrived late evening about 11pm and was warmly welcomed by the hotel reception staff and in particular by the gentleman called Kamaran who spoke English and very helpful. Our luggage was taken to our rooms after we had a bite to eat and drink in the Bistro bar downstairs from reception which became a regular place to go late evenings during our stay. Our room which was a two bedroom suite was very clean and spacious with a good sized balcony and towels were changed everyday which was ideal after a hard day in the sun😁 The food was absolutely amazing and plenty to choose from at breakfast, lunch and dinner with the restaurant always lively at times and always constantly cleaned. The staff throughout the hotel were polite and friendly although not all of them spoke English but always had a smile on their face. Special thanks and praise to Buran in the Bistro bar, Yusuf and Esra who worked in the restaurant and the pool bar. Lovely young friendly people. There was always afternoon snacks and ice cream available every day between 3-4pm if you had room to fit it in. The pool area was great with a large pool shaped like sunglasses and slides at one end which were just the right size. We managed to get sunbeds most days if we got up before 10 am. Get down at 8 am and you have a better choice. As for the private beach which was a 5 minute walk or a 2 minute ride in the electric buggy this was superb. With plenty of sunbeds and golden sand along with a beach restaurant, can you ask for anymore. The only downside is the entertainment was a bit hit and miss at times but found the entertainment manager was warming to us English people as he liked to call us as the holiday went on. There were activities going on during the day like volleyball, water polo and aqua gymnastics. There are plenty of things to do at the Roma like Spa treatment at a cost, a bit of shopping, hairdressers, games area or just chilling in the Lobby bar for a cocktail. Yes there were plenty of Germans at this hotel as this is a regular holiday getaway for them and a few Brits there as this is the first season that Tui have come here. Overall we had a fantastic time and praise must go to the hard working staff in every area of the hotel who made this one of our best holidays abroad. We would definitely come back again to this wonderful hotel.
