    ABOUT THE HOTEL

    • Official Rating

Fantastic views lead the way at this waterfront hotel on Sorrento’s Marina Grande.

This hotel is set on the waterfront, just a couple of minutes’ walk from a little beach and Marina Grande’s bars and restaurants. About 20 minutes on foot takes you up the hill to the heart of Sorrento.

The view across the sea to Mount Vesuvius is really special – and the pool and bar are prime places to take it in. Dining-wise, there are special evenings when the food comes with dancing.

In the UK, this holiday is only available from the TUI group.

Another great visit but disappointed by the decor and finish.

This hotel is in the Marina Grande and is nestled away in the corner and is the only one in the sea. We have stayed here before and love it here. Frederico, the hotel manager will do anything he can to make your stay special. This hotel has the best location in Sorrento and we love it here and will be staying again. All that said and done I feel I have to be objective and honest. The hotel is starting to look tired. They have redressed the bar and it looks good but there are lots of little things that need attention. There was a broken window on one of the landings, there were pieces of the fencing where the welding had come undone and rust was coming through the paint work. There were strip lights tied to the fencing but instead of trimming the tie wraps they’d simply left them sticking out. It would take a couple of seconds to snip each off. The pool was full of detritus for the first few days and the filter wasn’t switched on do you couldn’t use it. The older Batman closed the bar service early every night especially the coffee facilities. Two people we had met who didn’t drink were refused coffee on numerous occasions because he’d already cleaned the coffee machine. The dining experience has definitely got worse. All dishes were presented with the same vegetables and on our previous visits you got different veg with different dishes. That was much better and the veg appeared to be much fresher. Another notable change snd this was a big issue was that on previous visits you ordered your desert and this was delivered to the table. It was previously presented well and given to you. They currently put the deserts out in the dining room snd everyone attacks them. This is disgusting because. People attack the deserts and they’re all over the tables and mutilated. On numerous occasions we were left with nothing. They didn’t even have ice cream as an alternative. You really need to go back to ordering and delivering the deserts if you are going to keep your star rating. Some of the staff work hard to try and make your holiday special but you would expect that a TUI hotel would employ people with better English. That said and done I have to say a special thank you to Mario for your kindness and for trying to bridge the gap and of course a massive shout out to our man of the match Andrea who always managed his bar well and was always there to welcome and greet you with a smile while doing everything he can to make your holiday special. The hotel has a five star location but a much poorer two star finish. The hotel needs to have a serious renovation and bring the standards up. If you need any ideas then go and have a look at Hotel Regina which is also a four star but is so much more superior in finish. I will be back but I’m hoping things have improved.
a lovely little hotel clinging to the cliffs i a beautiful fishing cove
    04 Nov , 2019 tim0thycr, 190727
when i read some reviews i was a little worried about going here , but on arrival i was very suprised, My wife and I stayed late October for a last minute break, yes the drop off bus does not go all the way to the hotel, The roads are to narrow, if you want to be dropped at the hotel you need to take a taxi, otherwise its a 100 mtr walk, The Room we had 101 was large enough for us for a weeks stay, it was nice clean bright with a large window and sea view, a decent shower room all clean and working with toilet bedef and large wash basin. The room was cleaned dayly with fresh bedding every day, The food in the hotel is a bit repetative but the breakfast is nice and filling, Theres plenty of places to eat both in the ccove and a cheap bus ride or short walk up hill to town, A bus ride to possitano it only 2 euros each way and a train ride to Pompiee is only 2 euros 50, There are lots of lovely places to eat an drink and I think the prices are very good for Italy, Enjoy Its a beautiful Beautiful place,,,, :)
The good the bad and the coffee

The view is beautiful The room is clean and comfortable The food at breakfast was good. The location is good, it is quiet as there are no roads. We had a late booking bargin. Dropped off a long walk from the hotel and no directions as the driver didn’t speak English. No internet in the rooms. The staff were grumpy, it was the end of season so they were probably tiered. You can here every word of conversations from the rooms next door. Smoke from other balconies is annoying, they need to segregate smokers, and in the public areas. The pool is not child friendly. The wine was expensive for what it was. Now to the Important Italian things that were missing. Good coffee, it was like drinking dirty water. No ice cream No pizza No lemons No garlic No olives In fact no taste !

We booked this holiday last minute as a last minute hoorah for some sun in October. The hotel itself sits perfectly on the crystal clear Mediterranean. With views that cannot be beaten. The balcony over hangs the sea with plenty of seats and loungers to rest and enjoy the view. Our room was very clean and spacious with a sea view and a lovely little balcony to enjoy. Our room was serviced every morning and we were treated to fresh linen and towels daily. The staff were all incredibly friendly and attentive when need be. The restaurant staff in particular. I’m always very cautious travelling due to the fact I have a severe nut allergy. However nothing was too much and the manager in particular was so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and made the effort to make sure that I always had something warm and tasty to eat. The hotel itself sits by the stunning Marina about 10 minutes walk into Sorrento. Of an evening we were treated to a lovely meal every night and on certain nights we enjoyed the hotels Gala dinner and Sunday buffet. We absolutely loved our stay and are already planning our next visit all down to the effort and attention of the staff there are nice buildings everywhere but it’s the staff that make the place and they certainly delivered. We look forward to returning and enjoy the delights of this gem again.
    Great Location

The location great, the rooms are clean and the reception staff are helpful. The weak link lies in the restuarant where the staff have little understanding of english and are generally unhelpful with a lack of smiles. The range of food is good but they let themselves down with the hot side of the buffet breakfast which depending on the time of your visit ranges from luke warm to stone cold. It comes out at 7 am and put in trays without adequite heating and no covering lids. Shame when they could easily solve it. We considered this hotel to others and say this is a good value stay. Its just 15 mins walk into town and all the hustle. We would return and hope they sort the breakfast! All in all we enjoyed our stay and recommend it .
