Tops for old school culture

The 1900 bar, the grotto pool Sporting Club, old fashioned luxury and fabulous location tickled our fancies. It is a place we wish to revisit. Do book for breakfast if you like freshly baked pecan danish and squeezed orange juice.

This is a wonderful hotel full of old style Italian charm. One or two people have said that it's old fashioned, well of course it is! If you don't appreciate this kind of old world charm go and stay in a Travelodge . The room was comfy, clean and well furnished, staff were excellent and the food was very good too. It is in a great setting overlooking the lake and very close to the charming shopping area in Stresa. ...

Beware of the Rooms

Beautiful on the outside but beware of the rooms. We were in a very tiny room with no window. Everything was old and dirty. The bathroom was so small I couldnt open the door all the way. Walls were paper thin.
Front desk was rude. Buffet was decent but the staff was very condescending.
Will not return....

We were blown away by how beautiful the hotel and the property were. Sitting of the banks of Lake Maggiore, the setting is breathtaking. Very large, ornate rooms that are extremely comfortable. The beds were perfect. It was very quiet at night. Patio and terrace in our room that offered stunning views. The staff goes out of their way to make sure your stay is memorable. Cramped and dirty single room

During a group tour of Italy, I stayed two nights at the hotel in a single room on floor -1. The room was probably 8 x 10 with a twin bed crammed into a corner. Upon arrival, the bathtub was dirty and the ac would not turn on. The furnishings needed a good cleaning.
According to their website, other rooms were available. Front desk clerk would not move me.
The other parts of the hotel are gorgeous....
