The Carlton on the Grand Canal was a huge disappointment. The only thing it has going for it is its location on the Grand Canal.
This hotel was the third stop on a tour of Italy which included Rome and Florence as well. While I did not expect 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ amenities, I did expect a clean room and reasonable breakfast, neither of which was received. I was a solo traveler touring with a larger group and our hotels befor...

Fantastic location and staff. Our room was 209, smaller than I thought it would be but the view from the balcony was fantastic. I agree with other comments that the hotel does need some maintenance, but most of our trip we spent enjoying the sites of Venice so it really didn't bother us.

I had a nice stay at this hotel. The absolute best thing about it is the location. The hotel is right across from the train station, which means you dont have to drag your luggage through thin, cobbled streets or over a ton of bridges. Theres one (very large) bridge to cross the canal from the station, but thats it. A 5-minute walk and no need to hire an expensive bag porter. No, youre not near Piazza San Marco, ...

My family and I stayed at the Carlton Hotel for three nights. We booked a room and specifically requested a river view, but upon arrival we discovered that our room had a wall view instead .
When I asked to change the room, they told us that no family rooms with river views were available. We then asked for two double rooms instead, but our request was ignored.

The room was clean and atmosphere was charming, and the location of the hotel is good (very accessible), but noise level was awful and made it very hard to sleep. No sound proofing at all, and having windows closed barely made a difference.
