Appalling hotel and nothing Royal about this place !

Not often are you unable to say one good thing about a hotel but the Royal ( not ) San Marco in Venice, is such a place !!
Calling this hotel a flea pit may be rather harsh but it is in such a poor state of repair that it either needs a major reburbishment or alternatively should be closed.

this is sold priced and marketed as a 4 * hotel, it isn't. there is no bar in the building, no restaurant in the building, the breakfast room is in an annexe and is too small to cater for all guests meaning you will likely have to queue for breakfast.
the rooms are small cramped and very tired. the bathroom we had was tiny with dirty cracked tiles. the toiletries were barely adequate and hair dryer useless and antiqu...

What a shame in 2025, we have had no hot water at this 4star Hotel.
Breakfast was adequate and staff pleasant.
Be aware, if you have bottled water from the fridge, thinking it is complimentary. It is not.
You will be charged.
Hotel is tired. We had a suite, beside the water, we found a rather foul smell.
This could be due to being close to the water....

Remember this room was £340 per night
The position of the hotel is very central but dont be fooled by the pictures the hotel looks good from the entrance olde world marble and polished wood but the room they gave us was shocking

The hotel has an excellent location, clean, big, and very comfortable rooms, a good breakfast, and pleasant staff. Thanks to the hotel staff for allowing early check-in without any fees. The most attractive places we could reach on foot. I positively recommend this hotel....
