A trio of towns
Lloret de Mar is the star beach resort of the Costa Brava. In fact, Brits have been sunning themselves here since the Fifties, so you can expect a full line-up of watersports, bars and restaurants. Pineda is a popular spot for Spanish families, so you get more in the way of tapas bars and live music. For something a tad different, try go-slow Santa Susanna.
Family days out
The biggie of the Costa Brava is Barcelona. Kids will get all wide-eyed over Gaudi’s fantastical creations — especially colourful Parc Güell and the dragon-shaped Casa Batlló. The city of Figueres follows the surreal theme, serving up a weird and wonderful Salvador Dali gallery. Don’t fancy the travel? Glass-bottom boat rides and watersports jump-start from the beach resorts.
