City breaks to Belgrade

Sightseeing by day and partying by night, you won’t get bored in Belgrade. Go see the cultural must-sees like Kalemegdan Fortress – a historical fortress and park that reflects Belgrade’s past. Or hit up the Cathedral of Saint Sava, the biggest Orthodox church in the Balkans. It’s a real stunner with white marble and 24-carat gold mosaics – no wonder it’s one of the city’s most special buildings. If you’re feeling adventurous be sure to head underground to explore the old Roman tunnels. Art enthusiasts are taken care of too, with a visit to Skadarlija – a charming cobbled street located in the Bohemian Quarter, reminiscent of Paris’ Montmartre. Painted buildings and street artists at work add to its unique charm – you won’t want to miss a trip to this street.

Best time to go to Belgrade

Late spring through to the end of summer is the best time to visit Belgrade. With the snow and ice of winter behind you, the period between May and September is when the city wakes up, drawing in tourists for sightseeing, festivals and some banging nightlife. July and August can turn up the heat, hitting the late twenties or early thirties. But, if snow and ice is more your thing, pick December to February, when temperatures regularly dip below freezing.
