Serbia’s capital, Belgrade, is one of Europe’s most happening and historic cities. Stroll through the old, cobbled street of Skadarlija in the capital’s Bohemian Quarter, or explore the medieval walls and towers of Kalemegdan, Belgrade’s Fortress. For a more laid-back vibe, hit up Novi Sad, just an hour’s drive away along the Danube River. There’s tons of churches or galleries to check out, and if you’re around in July get ready for Serbia’s legendary EXIT music festival.

Serbia’s got five national parks where you can check out endangered species of flora and fauna and heaps of unspoilt views to come across. Go hiking through the rolling hills of Fruška Gora National Park, just 30 minutes from Novi Sad. And, if you’re feeling adventurous, try your luck at spotting bears in Tara National Park. There’s loads of untouched natural beauty just waiting for you to discover.
