From white-sand beaches and thrill-a-minute theme parks to sleepy squares and culture-packed cities, the Valencia region does holidays like a pro.
With lively beach towns backing Blue Flag beaches and cities that rival Barcelona and Madrid, this part of Spain really hits the mark when it comes to holidays.
The big cheese is definitely the Costa Blanca. Its name translates as the ‘White Coast’, so it’s no surprise that huge stretches of sand line the coast. Benidorm is the biggest town, with Blue Flag beaches and a great after-dark scene. Then there’s Denia, with its Moorish castle and smart marina. Javea’s the most traditional resort – think tapas, flamenco and quiet coves.
If you fancy a break from the beach, the Valencia region serves up two big cities – Valencia itself and Alicante. Valencia’s trump card is its well-preserved old town, which is all cobbled squares and labyrinthine lanes. As for Alicante, it draws the crowds with its chic boutiques and on-trend cocktail bars.
