Laidback breaks hit new highs on Benitses holidays. This super-chill spot has got its relaxation recipe down to a fine art.

Slowly does it

Breaks to Benitses pace themselves at a sloth’s speed, with life here rarely shifting into second gear. This pint-sized fishing village is plotted on Corfu’s east coast, within easy daytripping distance of its capital. It was once Corfu’s original party place, and had a disco-dancing scene that pulled in thousands of visitors for more than two decades. These days, things are more mellow than Magaluf, and its sleepy streets are dotted with seafood restaurants and tavernas which are tailored to the village’s laidback lifestyle.

Top-to-toe trips out

Benitses is smack dab in the centre of the island’s east coast, which makes driving to any of the island’s coastal corners super easy. Spotlight-grabbing swathes in Aghios Georgios up north and the island’s party-popper Kavos down south can both be reached within an hour by car. Sticking closer to home, trips to Corfu Town – the island’s head honcho – can be done in less than 30 minutes if you’re driving.

A bevy of beaches

Benitses is home to a handful of pebble-dashed beachfronts, fit for seaside days for the whole family – the see-through shallow seas are perfect for snorkellers and sprogs alike. Switching up to sandy sweeps is simple business, too – Aghios Gordios sits on Corfu’s west wing and it’s a 25-minute drive to its sun-bleached stretch of sand.
