Explore Santorini's quieter side with holidays to Megalocori – a 17th-century hillside village steeped in history, charming architecture and vineyards.

Postcard Greece

Megalocori may be small, but it packs a picture-perfect punch. Located on the south-west coast of Greek island Santorini, this little village is a maze of winding lanes, whitewashed houses and blue-domed churches, all overlooking the Aegean Sea. It's also home to Symposion – a cultural centre dedicated to Greek music and mythology.

Beach daze

The whole island's surrounded by sparkling turquoise waters, but Megalocori's especially well placed for accessing the best spots. Perissa's black-sand beach is a 10-minute drive away and stocked with plenty of sunloungers, thatched parasols and beachside tavernas.

Santorini by sea

There are lots of ways to explore the island, but nothing beats a guided boat tour. Clock the lofty volcano from the water, take a plunge in steaming springs, or stop for a bite on a neighbouring island. And have your camera ready for that mind-blowing sunset.

Heart of stone

For an intimate viewing of the island's famous sunset, head to the Heart of Santorini. This little-known gem's a naturally heart-shaped arch in the caldera, giving you a fantastic – and romantic – look at the volcano and setting sun.
