Best time to go to Mexico Caribbean Coast
On Mexico's Caribbean Coast, it’s not just the food that’s hot. In summer, temperatures push the high 20s, often tipping into the 30s. Even in the winter, things rarely dip below 20°C.
Just a heads up – the beaches here are sometimes affected by sargassum, a type of seaweed. It’s influenced by things like weather patterns and the currents in the sea. If your hotel’s affected, the staff will do everything they can to clear it.
Passports and Visas
British citizens don’t need a visa to enter Mexico, but must have a valid passport. For the most up-to-date passport and visa info, visit www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/mexico/entry-requirements
Don't forget to arrange your travel money
before you go.
When travelling to Mexico, visitors are required to pay three different taxes. Departure tax is the largest and this has already been included in the cost of your holiday. The Environmental Tax and Tourist Tax must be paid locally before you travel home. Environmental Tax should be paid at the hotel when checking in or checking out and costs between 30-70 MXN per room, per night. You should pay the Tourist Tax through the official website https://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio
and currently this costs 258 MXN per person, including all children and infants. Please only use this website as it has been reported that fraudulent sites are active. Proof of payment must be given at the airport, so once you've paid the tax please download and take a screenshot of the QR confirmation to minimise delays when travelling home.
