Or you’ve been together for years and are seeking a romantic spot to get some adults-only private time for your annual leave. We’ve got you. Here are our recommended romantic holiday destinations for gorgeous, photo-worthy spots ready for your next romantic getaway. Whether you’re thinking long-haul to Barbados or just hopping over to trending Tenerife, check out our travel picks for young couples.

Tenerife

It’s no secret that Tenerife is the star of the Canary Islands in Spain, thanks to everything it has on offer. Trips here will have you stargazing at Mount Teide National Park, zooming down slides at the largest waterpark in Europe and tackling crater-like landscapes by foot. Plus, you’ve got architect-designed sandy beaches, cocktail bars and amazing sunsets at your disposal, so there’ll be no shortage of backdrops for your many jealousy-inducing Insta selfies.

Don’t miss: Mount Teide

Mount Teide is one of the most romantic places on the island to watch the sun go down. As it melts down the hillsides, the ridges and rocks take on pink and red hues. Plus, you can book an experience that takes you to stargazing viewpoints, where a guide will show you the different constellations. Date night, sorted.

Ibiza

Although the White Isle in Spain is famous for its nightlife, Ibiza is totally couplesfriendly, too. Beach holidays to Ibiza offer up beautiful crystal-clear waters with plenty of beaches, not to mention some of the most stylish hotels in the Mediterranean, making it ideal for a couple’s retreat. And relax…

Don’t miss: Formentera

Ibiza’s little sister, Formentera, is the perfect destination for a day trip to make the most of your getaway. It’s just 30 minutes’ ferry ride away from Ibiza, so it’ll feel like a holiday from your holiday. The island is full with eco-friendly trails, meaning you can explore most of it on foot or bike. Plus, the island boasts really beautiful beaches, like Platja de Migjorn. This giant strip of sand is lined by caves, and the tropical-looking waters are perfect for snorkelling sessions.

Barbados

If you’re looking to venture to the Caribbean for your romantic holiday, look no further than Barbados. This tropical island has it all – beautiful beaches, a UNESCO-listed capital, friendly locals and amazing local cuisine. Plus, after the two of you have spent the day sunning yourselves on the beaches, you can hit the bars and clubs together in Christ Church – this lively city is packed with rum bars, Bajan restaurants and great nightlife.

Don’t miss: Cliff Restaurant

There isn’t any other restaurant in Barbados quite like the Cliff Restaurant. This place does what it says on the tin, perching over a gorgeous cove where you can spot stingrays and tarpon splashing in the water below. In the evenings, torch-lit decks and unrivalled sunset views are on the agenda, so it ticks the romantic boxes. Plus, because it’s the most celebrity-visited eatery on the island, don’t be surprised if you spot a few famous faces while you’re wining and dining. Selfie, anyone?

Cape Verde

Outdoorsy couples will love the vibe of Cape Verde. This place is renowned for surfing, thanks to its location just off the northwest coast of Africa, which means large swells aren’t hard to come by. Whether you’re a beginner or a bit of pro, it’s the perfect place to grab a board and take to the waves – water you waiting for? (We’re sorry…)

Don’t miss: Pedra de Lume

If there’s one place you can’t miss off your itinerary in Cape Verde, it’s the Instagram-worthy saltpans at Pedra de Lume. You’ll find them nestled in the resort of Sal, which means ‘salt’ in English. They’re surprisingly great for bathing in, too – prepare for the best skincare treatment of your life, although there’ll be a bit of a sting if you’ve got any cuts or grazes…

Maldives

Sure, the price tag of a Maldives holiday may make it a once-in-a-lifetime future goal rather than a spontaneous trip, but we had to include it – it’s one of the most romantic holiday destinations you could pick if you’re ready to go all-in. Often reserved for honeymoons or wedding locations, you don’t have to be that serious in your relationship to enjoy the perks of a getaway here. Stunning beaches, world-class cuisine and some of the best diving and snorkelling you can findit’s a solid line-up.

Don’t miss: Malé

The Maldivian capital of Malé has a bit more hustle and bustle – if you can even call it that – for those wanting a bit of activity on their trip. There’s the National Museum and a host of street markets selling food, fashion and everything in between. Then you can head back to your peaceful paradise island.
