Why I love the TUI BLUE Sensatori Atlantica Caldera Palace

Crete, the largest of the Greek islands, is packed with ancient ruins, historic sites and pretty villages waiting to be discovered. But exploring it all doesn’t mean you have to give up on the relaxing part of your holiday…

On my last trip, I stayed at TUI BLUE Sensatori Atlantica Caldera Palace. It’s an All Inclusive resort, which meant everything was taken care of, from delicious meals and refreshing drinks to evening entertainment. I was able to pick how much or how little I did – some days were for wandering through Minoan palaces and swimming in hidden coves, then others were made for chilling by the pool with a cocktail. It’s the ideal combo of comfort and adventure, AKA the perfect base if you’re visiting Crete.

Here’s what I love about the TUI BLUE Sensatori Atlantica Caldera Palace…

Something for everyone

This stunning resort’s got everything I look for in a hotel. Pools? Tick. By the sea? Tick. All Inclusive? Tick. And that’s just the start, because there are loads of extra perks to make the most of during your holiday – I’m talking silent discos, a spa and even a kids’ club if you want to enjoy the adults-only areas. I came with my family, so it was super important to stay somewhere that was child-friendly but still catered for grown-ups.

With so much to do, you’d think it’s a struggle to keep track of what’s on, right? Wrong. The TUI BLUE app makes it super easy to see what’s going on during your holiday, from checking timetables and picking activities to reserving a table in the à la carte restaurants.

My picks

1. Archery

The TUI BLUE staff were so helpful. They gave us some quick and easy info on how to safely handle the archery equipment, then everyone had a turn shooting in three different rounds – there’s nothing like a bit of friendly competition to spice up the small talk at the buffet. I enjoyed it so much, I actually decided to go back for another session!

2. Bracelet making

This was a new activity that the staff were trialling, and there was a great turnout, so I hope they keep it going! It was such a calming activity – we sat at tables picking out our beads, chatting and sipping glasses of bubbly. I wouldn’t have known this activity was available if hadn’t checked the app last minute, so it’s definitely worth downloading and checking back every day for anything new.

3. Yoga

Holidays are the perfect time to try something new and on this trip, I discovered yoga. Classes were offered at different times of the day – including sunrise and sunset – and in different locations, such as on the beach or on the deck overlooking the sea. The intermediate class became my bestie in the mornings – listening to the sea during breathing exercises was the dreamiest way to wake up and start the day. The groups were kept nice and small and the instructors were really friendly and inclusive, giving you the space to try things at your own pace.

4. Cat spotting

Okay, this one didn’t require the app at all. Just walk around the resort and you’re bound to come across one of these furry friends at some point. Like any cat, it’s important to let them come to you before giving them a stroking, but most were more than happy to receive a tummy rub. You’ll usually find them stretching out in the sun on a wall, tickling your legs under the table or hanging around outside the restaurants. Just remember you shouldn’t feed them – they’re already well-fed by the staff.
