Mount Irvine Bay Resort

I actually never actually stayed at the hotel but in all fairness I have been told it’s quite nice. I booked to stay on May 18 2019 but missed my flight. I booked the room on May 17 and paid for the room. I also paid for insurance on the room so I called the hotel and told them of my predicament on May 18. When I tried to rebook a couple weeks later on the assumption I could do so to my surprise I wasn’t able to as I was told the cancellation policy was I had to cancel 3 days before. I queried same since if that were the case why would you accept someone paying for insurance on the room if they booked the day before the stay. I consider the policy totally illogical but the hotel would not budge. Be wary of this when booking at this hotel.

The common areas of this resort (lobby, pool, restaurant) are very nice but the rooms themselves were very poorly maintained. I did not have a blanket of any sort on either of the beds in my room or in any dresser or closet. i had a thin fitted sheet and that was it. The tiles in the bathroom were cracked. There were ants. On 2 of the 4 days I stayed there, I returned to my room to find my patio door unlocked. Additionally, the security deposit that was placed as a hold on my account was withdrawn and although the front desk has admitted multiple times via phone that this was done erroneously, 3 months later, I have still not been issued a refund. I was waiting to write a review hoping that they would remedy this problem but since they have not after almost 3 months, here it is. Do yourself and a favor and DO NOT STAY AT THIS RESORT!

I was excited to return to Mount Irvine to celebrate the Christmas holiday with my partner. Once again, the hotel did not disappoint. It is an ideal base to explore the abundant natural beauty that Tobago has to offer. The hotel is a tranquil retreat. The grounds are extremely well-kept and the beach is my favourite on the island. From the buffet breakfast to dinner, the food is delicious. Just thinking about the Jerk Chicken Sandwich now makes me want to return. Through my work I have the opportunity to travel extensively and while this is not the fanciest hotel I've ever stayed in, it has a special charm that is uniquely Tabagonian. It feels remarkably home-y to me (extremely clean and comfortable) and even after a week, I was not ready to leave. Top Tips: - Consider renting a car to really explore the island - Dine at The Fish Pot, Sea Horse Inn, and La Tartaruga all located near the hotel - Book at bioluminescence tour - it's a natural phenomenon that shouldn't be missed Can't wait to return!
