Holidays to Trinidad and Tobago combine the cool Caribbean vibe with adventurous jungle trails and just-as-wild beach parties.

A Caribbean wonderland

Caribbean islands bring colour, calm and carnival, all in their own way. Trek through lively rainforests, head down to a carnival party on the beach, or sip a cocktail while you sway in a hammock looking out over the turquoise sea. It’s a fine balance, but you can go all the way from snoozy beach days to wild adventure and late nights in one trip here.

Go mad for Trinidad

The capital city of Port of Spain is a standout destination for food and festivals – come for the big annual Carnival in February, then stay for the after-dark food tours. Less than an hour’s drive away, Maracas Bay is the place for laidback beach days. And Chaguaramas in the north-west sweetens the deal with adventure parks and zip-lining courses through the jungle canopy.

Tranquil Tobago

In Tobago, nature takes centre stage with golden beaches, exotic wildlife tours and coral reef diving off Buccoo. It’s also home to the oldest protected rainforest in the Caribbean, Main Ridge Forest Reserve, if you’re up for a holiday hike. Or, for a more low-key day, check out Pirate's Bay, a local favourite for its whispering coconut palms and the occasional mango to munch on.

Smiling islands

The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago's made up of a selection of small islands, on top of these main two. Little Tobago's a mini version just off Tobago’s north-east coast and home to a wildlife sanctuary where you might glimpse rare, colourful birds. Historical Chacachacare houses a Hindu temple, and both Saint Giles and Goat Island offer clear waters loaded with life for divers.
