Or practise your haggling skills in the souks, where you can pick up trinkets like perfume oils and hand-painted treasures.

Sahara adventures

Say hello to sandy dunes and starry skies in the Sahara – plus plenty of thrills if you fancy it. Hop in a 4x4 and hurtle across the dunes or pick a quad bike as your wheels of choice. Star Wars fan? Fill your boots with a visit to the underground houses of Matmata, where they filmed scenes for two of the Star Wars films.

Under-the-radar spots

With its untouched sands and historic souks, the coastal city of Mahdia is Tunisia’s best-kept secret. Head here for a last-minute escape and you could be kicking back on white sands and tucking into fresh seafood before you know it. Yasmine Hammamet’s an up-and-comer, too, thanks to its Blue Flag beach and swanky marina.
