Scenic lakefront views, the authentic Villa Olmo and the colourful markets are just a few highlights of Como city breaks.

City breaks to Como

The picturesque city of Como is situated on the Italian-Swiss border, overlooking the southwest end of Lake Como, with rolling green hills in the background. In the centre of the city, you can appreciate the architecture, exhibiting a mixture of Romanesque and gothic styles. Piazza Duomo is Como’s main square with a Baroque-style cathedral smack-bang in the middle. One of Como’s best attractions – which also happens to be free – is the Villa Olmo, with its Italian-style gardens overlooking the lake and rooms full of ornate paintings and statues. To see Como from above, jump on the Como-Brunate funicular from Piazza Alcide de Gasperi and arrive in Brunate in just a few minutes. If you go back to the lakefront, you can take advantage of the boat service and visit all the local towns perched upon the lake.
