Pine-lined shores and turquoise waves surrounded by lush rolling hills – holidays to Podstrana are a breath of fresh air.

Sitting pretty

Just south of Split on the Dalmatian Coast, Podstrana has one of Croatia's most enviable shorelines. The beaches here stretch on forever and are lined with welcoming bars and cafes. There are man-made wonders too, with quaint chapels, an old town and Roman ruins all within walking distance.

Sand-and-pebble shores

Podstrana has so much coastline on its doorstep that it'd take around an hour just to walk from end to end. Most of the hotels huddle around the northern stretch, so head there early to secure a spot among the crowds. For something more peaceful, simply stroll south until you find your perfect patch.

Hop, Split and a jump

With Split only a 20-minute drive away, you don't need any excuses to plan a daytrip, but just in case – there's a world of history to see, as well as trendy bars and seafront restaurants galore. You can also reach some of Croatia's postcard-famous islands from the marina.
