Holidays to Portinatx offer a softer centre to Ibiza's hard-core vibe. Bringing you sandy beaches and a rugged backdrop, they're all about laid-back living, not having it large...
Ibiza’s most northern point, Portinatx, couldn’t be further from the high-voltage dance nights and foam parties that this Balearic Island's famous for. It’s the sort of place you go to get away from it all – a laid-back little resort which deals in pine-forested countryside, sea-view restaurants and cosy bars rather than superclubs.
Portinatx’s 3 beaches will do it for both families and musical buffs. The waters are shallow and calm, the bars never run out of ice-cream, and the sandy coves round here stood in for the shores of Hawaii in the 1958 movie South Pacific.
Portinatx isn’t a stay-up-all-night kind of place, but there are plenty of bars and restaurants to explore once the sun goes down. The resort has a family-friendly vibe, so kids will be welcome more or less anywhere you go.
The countryside is a big pull in Portinatx, with lots of lovely leisurely coastal trails to tackle. If you’re up for a challenge, pull on your hiking boots and take on the 10-kilometre cliff walk from Portinatx to Punta de Xarraca. It’s one of the trickiest on the island but worth it for the views.
There are three main beaches in Portinatx. S'Arenal Grand and S'Arenal Petit are nearest to the resort centre, while Es Port beach is at the north end of the resort. They all boast fine sand and are easy to reach, a sunseeker's delight.
