St Vlas holidays dollop you down by the Black Sea, with some stand-out beaches, towering mountains and club-filled towns to whet your appetite.

Wow-worthy waterfront

Bulgaria’s Black Sea coastline is a must-see if you’re a fan of sun, sea, sand and stand-out scenery. And the laidback town of St Vlas – AKA Sveti Vlas – is no exception. Its crowning glory’s the shorefront. It packs in everything from a yacht-lined marina to beaches that are backed by the likes of crazy golf courses and sea-view food joints. What’s more, if you’re looking to step on the gas in between suntanning sessions, you can trundle over to the marina and hit the waves on rented jet-ski.

Mountain backdrop

Point your peepers inland, meanwhile, and you’ll see that the area around St Vlas takes a taller approach to its landscapes. The town’s planted by a patch of the Balkan Mountains. The slopes in this part of Bulgaria tip the scale at over 400 metres above sea level. Whether you’re walking or driving up the slopes, the Instagram-worthy coastal and countryside views are well worth the journey.

Lively neighbours

If clubbing and bar-hopping tickle your fancy, holidays to St Vlas plonk you within reach of some of Bulgaria’s most-famous nightlife. Hop in a cab for 10 minutes and you can reach Sunny Beach’s collection of pubs and nightclubs. What’s more, it fills in the gaps with daytime pool parties and late-night DJ sets. If you’re looking for a tipple that’s on the quieter side, Nessebar’s old town’s just the ticket. It’s a mishmash of UNESCO-protected ruins, family-run restaurants and waterfront cocktail bars.
