Holidays to St Vlas roll out gold-sand beaches, a mountain backdrop and a glitzy, restaurant-packed marina. And if you want to crank up the volume, Sunny Beach is just down the road.
Sun, sea and mountains
St Vlas, or Sveti Vlas, is like a doorstop between Bulgaria’s Balkan Mountains and the Black Sea Coast. Bulging with beaches and a fancy marina, the seaside resort is Sunny Beach on a go-slow. When you want to whack it up a notch, Sunny Beach and Nessebar are just around the corner.
The coastline’s divvied up between rocky headlands, which means you can try a different beach each day. All of them are well-stocked with sunbeds, cafés and watersports huts. If you choose the ones at either end of the marina, you can flip flop over to a load more restaurants and bars.
If you don’t fancy getting sandy toes, make tracks for Marina Dinevi. There’s a decent dose of drinking and dining spots, or you can play pick-your-favourite with the mega-money boats at the yacht port. Hikes are easy, too – head up the southern slopes of the Balkan mountain range for top views. Or make the 15-minute drive into Sunny Beach for more manmade action.
