Holidays to Sunny Beach take you to Eastern Europe's party capital. This is Bulgaria's biggest, brashest resort – and it's a fine sandy stretch of beach too.

Bigger is better

Set on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast, Sunny Beach is a real big gun of a holiday resort. This modern, purpose-built resort is the country’s biggest and it really packs in the nightlife. You’ll find this place brim-full of clubs, hotels and restaurants. It also comes with a whopping eight-kilometre beach and easy access to Bulgaria’s biggest waterpark.

Blue Flag beach

This long, wide stretch is a Blue Flag winner. Golden sands shelve gently into the sea, making it safe territory for pint-sized paddlers. You’ve got rows of sunbeds and parasols for rent, as well as plenty of free areas where you can roll your mat out. And the cafés and kiosks along the front will see you right for ice-cream.

Action-packed days and nights

Your days at Sunny Beach can be as jam-packed as you like. Choose from watersports, beach volleyball, tennis and horseriding. You’ve also got two waterparks, along with a couple of diddy ones for younger kids. And evenings here don’t get any quieter – that’s when this party town comes alive, with the bars pumping out everything from traditional Bulgarian folk to hardcore dance music.

Day trips to Nessebar

If you fancy a change from clubs and waterparks, head to Nessebar – less than 15 minutes away. Here you’ve got an ancient town that’s chock-a-block with Roman fortresses and Byzantine churches. The setting, on a peninsula, is pretty special, too. You can make a day of it by having lunch at one of the seafront fish restaurants, followed up with a sail around the harbour.
