Best time to go to Dusseldorf

Dusseldorf will feel like a home away from home weather-wise – the city’s got distinct similarities to the often hard-to-predict British climate. Just like Blighty, June, July and August are the peak times to expect sunny weather, and the temperatures can push up to highs of 24°C. Winter’s a lot milder, and things often dip below freezing in January and February. It’s also worth bearing in mind that a flurry of rain is never off the cards – despite being one of the warmest months, June’s often the wettest time in Dusseldorf.

Health and safety

You should take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance to cover you while you’re away. Also, if you’re travelling to the EU and you apply for a card now, you'll get a new UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) instead of an EHIC. This entitles you to emergency medical treatment on the same terms as German nationals. It won’t, however, cover you for medical repatriation, ongoing medical treatment or non-urgent treatment.
