If you’re after a trip that mixes beach time, boat trips and pasta for days, Sardinia ticks all the boxes. We spent four unforgettable days exploring the island’s northeast coast – think clear blue water, laidback towns and sweeps straight from the Caribbean.
Here’s what we got up to on our four-day trip to Sardinia…
Day 1 – arriving in Sardinia
We kicked off our adventure with a short, afternoon flight that landed in Olbia, perfectly placed on the stunning Costa Esmeralda. Keen to explore the beautiful island, we decided to hire a car, which gave us the freedom to see everything that Sardinia has to offer.
After just an 18-minute drive, we arrived at our hotel, Sulia House Porto Rotondo. Nestled in the northern hills, this peaceful boutique hotel serves up breathtaking views of the Gulf of Cugnana and ensures a relaxing atmosphere. It’s conveniently located just a 5-minute drive from the heart of Porto Rotondo, and there are lots of each beach clubs nearby, too.
For the rest of the afternoon, we felt like chilling at the hotel, sipping cocktails and soaking in the serene environment. To wrap up our first day, we enjoyed a delicious dinner at the hotel restaurant, which had unbelievable panoramic views over the gorgeous landscape.
Day 2 – catamaran cruise and beach scenes
On our second day, we headed out early for an exciting catamaran tour to Tavolara and Cala Moresca. We set sail from Olbia Port and glided over the crystal-clear water. The trip included swim stops, as well as refreshing drinks and a delicious lunch of handmade pasta, which we ate with a stunning backdrop of Tavolara, an island known for its dramatic limestone cliffs and turquoise waters.
Our adventure didn’t end there. We decided to continue exploring and drove about 30 minutes
to Cala Brandinchi, AKA ‘Little Tahiti’ thanks to its for tropical-looking waters and soft white sand. The beach was super peaceful, surrounded by lush plants and trees. The shallow, calm waters perfect for swimming. We spent the afternoon sunbathing and cooling off in the sea.
To end our action-packed day, we headed back to Olbia for a yummy dinner at Pizzeria Civico. The mouthwatering smell wafting from the pizzeria tempted us in, and we ate an amazing pizza and pasta dish. It was the perfect finish to a day filled with adventure, sun and incredible scenes.

Day 3 – relaxing and exploring
We took our third morning nice and slow with a leisurely breakfast on the terrace. With a cup of authentic Italian coffee in hand, I felt like I was in heaven. After eating, we relaxed by the pool, soaking up the warmth of the sun and sipped refreshing mocktails.
In the afternoon, we visited Ira Beach, which was only an 8-minute drive from the hotel. The beach was absolutely beautiful, with golden sand and blue waters that lapped gently at the shore. Feeling adventurous, we also checked out Marinella Beach, just a 6-minute drive away. We spent some time walking along the shoreline, admiring the brilliant shades of blue in the water and the unique rock formations along the coast.
As the sun began to set, we made our way to Porto Rotondo port for a stroll. The charming harbour was dotted with luxury yachts and had a great range of shops and cafés. For dinner, we stopped at Il Pomodoro, a lovely restaurant that does delicious Italian cuisine alongside stunning views of the port.

Day 4 – final morning
We started our fourth day with a comforting breakfast at the hotel, enjoying the last moments of our
stay in this little slice of paradise. We packed our bags and checked out, but we still had a bit of time to explore. We headed into Olbia’s charming Old Town, which is filled with cobblestone
streets and pretty buildings. We stopped by a cute café for a cup of coffee and a plate of delicious carbonara, the perfect way to end four days of unreal Sardinian food.
On our way to the airport, we picked out our highlights from the trip and started to plan our next trip. until next time, Sardinia…
