Ibiza may be known as a party paradise, but scratch beneath the surface and you’ll find an island that’s kitted out to deliver all you could ask from a family holiday…
Ibiza – land of superclubs, foam parties and lurid cocktails, right? Well, yes, but dig a bit deeper and you’ll find this free-spirited island doesn’t just cater for hedonistic night owls. Families are flocking to its pretty shores faster than you can say ‘Peppa Pig’ – she’s a friend of ours, dontcha know.
Here’s why our All Inclusive holidays on the White Isle will prove a firm family favourite, whether you’re a tot, a teen or a grown up…
All you can… unwind
Just a hop, skip and a jump – otherwise known as half an hour’s drive – north of Ibiza’s fleet of nightclubs are the sleepy towns of Puerto San Miguel and Portinatx. The former may be a mere speck on the map, but its pine-clad hills and suntrap of a bay put it firmly on the radar. Warm, shallow waters provide the perfect over-sized paddling pool for little ones, and the beach-side restaurants are a short flip-flop away from your sunlounger. Meanwhile, Portinatx delivers miles of stunning coastal trails for when you’re feeling energetic, and a trio of knock-out beaches for when you’re, well, not.
All you can… discover
If a spot of culture is high up your holiday agenda, make a beeline for the cobbles of Ibiza Town. The island’s capital has an old quarter that’s UNESCO-listed, no less. Its 400-year-old sandstone walls and Gothic buildings will serve up a history lesson way more exciting than any in a classroom, as well as making you feel like an extra in Game of Thrones. Back in the 21st century, you’ll find a marina chockfull of mine’s-bigger-than-yours yachts, surrounded by heaps of chi-chi bars and restaurants.
All you can… splash
If you’re precious about getting your hair wet, steer clear of the Aguamar waterpark in Playa d’en Bossa. If, however, you’re one for careering down waterslides at hell-for-leather speeds, you’ll want to have a crack at white-knucklers like Super Toboggan and the killer Black Hole. But, don’t worry, there are also smaller slides for youngsters and gentle multi-lane numbers for the faint-hearted. Plus, the park has a paddling pool and play area just for toddlers, and plenty of sunbeds for catching your breath between rides.
All you can… explore
That Johnny Depp has a lot to answer for – he’s spawned a generation of wannabe pirates. Your kids can live out their high seas fantasies aboard a 3-tiered glass-bottom catamaran, checking out smuggler’s caves with many a swashbuckling tale to tell. Although, we get the feeling mums and dads will be just as gripped by local legend. This action-packed day out will see you cruising along the western coast, spotting fish and playing themed games, then stopping at a beach on the way home to cool off.
