Very disappointing stay for a supposed 4-star hotel.
I stayed here 2629.11 for the fifth time, and the quality has dropped dramatically. No toiletries, no way to get a toothbrush at night, and no proper minibaronly crisps and M&Ms at reception like in a hostel. Pillows were lumpy, the bed topper kept slipping off, and I had to change rooms because the upper floors smelled strongly of weed.

Wonderful stay! Absolutely recommend to anybody visiting Amsterdam and would definitely stay again. Room was clean, tidy and comfortable, with aircon and plenty of space. Staff all very kind and helpful, letting us leave our bags for the day before we checked in. In a brilliant central location. Thanks for a great stay!...

Absolutely appalling hotel. Booked for our honeymoon and had no working TV, the room smelt and was like a sauna.
Reception would not do anything to help us so ended up moving hotels on our first night....

we arrived at the hotel 6 hours before our check in and asked the staff if it was possible to leave our bags, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. They even gave us directions to get to the nearest tram stop. When we returned 6 hours later and checked in our bags were in our room.

We loved our stay at the Van de Vijsel. A cosy, warm hotel,
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was excellent and presented very well.
The location was perfect for us - close to the Van Gogh museum and Rijksmuseum and Vondelpark. There are some beautiful shops and houses in the Museum Quarter.
The hotel was only 20-30 min walk into the centre of the city.
