Charged me £258 at the end of stay when I already paid the full price before I got there, still no refund

I was overcharged during my hotel stay. I had already paid £500 upfront for two nights, but at checkout I was told to pay an extra £258, which I later found out shouldnt have been charged. I contacted the hotel after returning home, and they said they would refund me, but it has now been two weeks with no refund or response. Im hoping this will be sent soon or my Christmas is ruined will not be returning to this ho...

Where to start.. on arrival we had 2 staff members to check us in at 3:00 we had to wait a whole hour for our rooms to be ready and after that one of my friend had to wait even longer! One member of staff was extremely rude and had terrible customer service didnt want to accept my city tax because it was cash after the other member of staff had already said its fine. Terrible hotel. Just come back from weekend break with family. We had a family room on floor 4. 1st night no heating we were all freezing, finally came on at 11.30pm. Room was awful, bathroom had shower - no light in shower basically showered in dark. Rooms are very tired. The staff were very friendly on reception, the only positive experience from the trip. Would not recommend staying here, will not be going back....

Hotel is nice, rooms are modern and clean. Standard room is fairly small. Checking in was quick and easy.
️Only had issues at checkout. We stayed for 5 nights and on the way out were charged 125 in tax. We wouldnt have been as annoyed if the charge was mentioned to us at check in or included in the booking price.
We spent lots of money in the 5 days we were there and were not expecting a 125 tax on the way out...

Curtains and carpet where both stained dirty, wouldnt say it was a 4star at all. The staff was lovely so can not fault them, walls are paper thin, tiny room wouldnt say particularly clean, under renovation so no bar open which is fine. The heating wasnt working in our room , the room was colder than the hotel hallway had to sleep in a full tracksuit. Carpet was a bit wet by the window? Maybe from rain but just odd...
