Honestly, I didn't choose the Amalia Hotel; it was booked by the organization for an event I attended, and it ended up being a great choice, especially for the location! It's so central, right near one of the main squares (Syntagma), surrounded by great restaurants and shops. It's a fantastic area, and super convenient and safe to walk around in the evening too. We must say this was a perfectly situated hotel. Staff were amazing!! Clean. So central we could walk anywhere. We stayed 4 nights at the beginning of our group trip and the last night before heading home. Lovely rooftop restaurant with a nice choice of meals and deserts. Breakfast was plentiful, tasty and available starting at 6:30 am - a bonus when you are travelling!!...

Great location but the rooms let this hotel down

Stayed as part of a small tour group of 14 guests .
Spent two nights, one at the start & one at the finish of our tour .
Bedrooms were ok but a bit dated & basic , not much room to put cases , the bathroom was manageable but I really dislike a shower curtain, not very hygienic either. However the bed & pillows were fine .
We ate one provided Dinner here in a private area . This was ok & it was nice to find some ...

Worst service ever. The room had a terrible smell of sewer. We complained and asked to be moved to another room or other hotel. But to no avail. No help to go elsewhere and no reduced price or any other attempt to redeem the bad experience. Indeed we were told to check booking.com where we could also find cheeper hot rooms. It was 10.30 pm. And what an insult. As if the problem was our economy!...
