Wonderful hotel in Barcelona

Comfortable beds, awesome breakfast, staff were wonderful. There was a free wine tasting. Alex shared three local wines that were all delicious. Alex was very knowledgeable and had recently returned from California where we grew up. The hotel is right off the Main Street but our room was quiet. Read the instructions on the bathroom counter before you get in the shower....

Quiet Convenient Luxury

Centrally located yet quiet, with the main entrance right off La Rambla. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food is delicious. Alex, who hosted the complimentary Wednesday evening wine tasting, was a delight. It was our first night of a 2 week visit to Spain & Alex made us feel so welcome. He knows how to connect with his guests as well as educate them about Spanish wines. A keeper!...

We came to Barcelona early prior to a Mediterranean cruise. We arrived during La Merce, which meant that the La Rambla area was even busier than usual. However, once we entered the doors of 1898, the hustle and bustle of the outside world disappeared. Wine tasting on Wednesdays with David and Chiara was excellent. They really gave us a sense of the regions of wine country in Spain, which we are planning to visit on the rest of our tour. It is on the rooftop of the The Hotel 1898 which is a beautiful viewpoint of the city....

We had a wonderful wine tasting with David and Chiara! Highly recommend staying at this wonderful hotel. We also enjoyed breakfast and dinner, with exceptional meals from their kitchen. Location is easy to walk to tours, exceptional service, beautiful spa and an easy stay....
