Its great days are over - though renovations are ongoing right now, some rooms should not be rented out anymore. For 2 persons the room was too small and the age of the bathroom caused doubts about its cleanliness. The staff was nice and helpful, the location is exceptional for walks and different from other city hotels. The breakfast offer is extensive but its far too crowded, the noise level equals the grand stat...

We chose the Scandic Marina primarily due to its location near the ferry terminal. It was built as a warehouse nearly 100 years ago, but has been transformed beautifully into a hotel. Fantastic staff, who couldn't do enough for us, even though we stayed just the one night. Room on the small side, but perfectly adequate. Big bathroom. There was a renovation going on at the hotel. My room was at the third floor. The room was quite dreary and not at all cozy. There was dirt on the radiator and the air conditioning buttons fell off.On the hallway there was dust all over. The building is very beautiful from the outside. Breakfast was okay....

We've stayed at this hotel probably around five times throughout the years and it's always a good experience. Fairly affordable for the location, very friendly staff, good and varied breakfast, a short walk from the city center, good location if you're going by Viking Line boats to Sweden or Estonia too. After travelling for 26 hours from Sydney to Helsinki, I arrived at the Scandic Grand Marina at 6.15am. Naturally enough I couldn't checkin yet but I was surprised to find that checkin was 4pm. It turned out that Scandic has about 10 hotels in Helsinki and they are the only hotels with a 4pm checkin. Other hotels are 2 or 3pm.
