For somewhere so unassuming on the outside Solar do Castelo is a gem. It was welcoming, clean, atmospheric, with wonderful breakfasts, returning in evenings for Pastéis de Nata (and more) and bubbly. Having a wall shared with the Castelo de São Jorge, you couldnt be better placed.

What a unique hotel. Solar do Castelo is an oasis of calm away from the hustle and bustle of Lisbon. Situated in the Alfama district, within the Castle (on the site of the former castle kitchens). The room was clean and the staff were the best who were super friendly, nice, and thoughtful! Enjoyed peacocks hanging around in the court yard. Definitely recommend it...
