Great centrally located hotel within walking distance of many great attractions. Hotel has great rooms with double windows that keeps traffic noise out! Friendly staff that were willing to assist with everything. Four front desk staff even debated over who had the best Flamenco dance company!...

Excellent location for us, easy walk to Prado, Reine Sophia and Thyssen galleries, Plaza Mayor, la Latina and the Royal Palace. A wide choice of eating places in the surrounding streets. Several small supermarkets close by.
The hotel serves breakfast E23 per person which we didnt take. There is a small bar with snacks and a room service menu. The bar attendant will supply ice to take to the room.

To start, the hotel is a 10-minute or so walk from Plaza Mayor, so I think the hotel name is a bit misleading. The good points were the hotel was very clean and our room was quiet with good soundproofing. On this trip we stayed in two other Catalonia brand hotels (Bilbao and San Sebastián) which were lovely. This particular hotel was rather bland--a small room with zero ambiance. Let me put it this way--it's complete...

We choose this hotel because of its location and our reality was even better than expectations. Location is perfect, small cafes near by for a late lazy breakfast or brunch. Nice room. To come again!...

We spend a hugely enjoyable six nights at the hotel over the new year period. Madrid is a wonderful city for a break but our stay at Catalonia Plaza Mayor made this trip even better. The breakfast is excellent and the chefs accommodated specialist dietary requirements without any fuss. The rooms are spotlessly clean and very comfortable.
