We stayed at the hotel from Dec 19 - 27 with our 2 adult sons and had a very pleasant stay. It is located in the heart of the central historic district directly next to the Zocalo. It is very clean, the staff are very responsive and helpful, and the breakfast is great. However, if you are going to stay at the hotel during this period be prepared for a very busy time. We came to Mexico City for the holidays. We came for the history and the excellent food. The Gran Hotel is in the Zocolo district, most Americans would not feel safe here. It is a little crazy as it is the holidays and they celebrate big.
The hotel is beyond beautiful. When we first arrived they rolled out the red carpet. Now that we have been here several days the service is waning!!!! Our T.V. keeps disconnecting...

The hotel is absolutely beautiful, the rooms are clean but they show their age, especially the bathrooms.
The restaurant on the terrace is breathtaking and the food is very good. The service at the restaurant and in the room is attentive. It's great to have the guests lounge to get sodas, coffees and teas any time of the day for free. The pastries in the lounge were stale, sadly.
