We went to the Hôtel Métropole in Monaco for a drink and entrusted our car to the valet service. When we decided to leave, I asked the concierge to change a 50-euro bill so I could tip the valet. Instead of simply assisting, he responded in a condescending and demanding manner, strongly insinuating that he himself expected a tip just for changing my money.

I have just returned from this wonderful hotel when visiting Monaco for a conference. I can't speak highly enough of the fantastic service, ambience, decor and style of the Hotel Metropole. I was greeted on arrival with a wonderful alcohol-free cocktail and nibbles while the concierge and reception staff managed my check-in, giving me a chance to enjoy the ambience of the beautifully decorated lobby area.
